Speakers 

Jean E Tardy   Jean E Tardy (MS Math) is a Systems Analyst. His professional experience includes embedded system development, software management and large-scale software acquisition. He provides R&D consulting services under the business name of SYSJET inc.  Jean has a long-standing interest in Artificial Intelligence. His focus is Digital Consciousness, the creation of conscious machines using standard Software Engineering tools and techniques. He published MECA SAPIENS, a system architecture to implement autonomous agents that are self-aware and highly adaptable. His current research interest is Machine Learning as it applies to autonomous agents.

Mike Savage   Mike Savage was first elected Mayor of Halifax Regional Municipality on October 20th 2012, with a mandate to make Halifax the most liveable, entrepreneurial and inclusive city in Canada, principles that continue to shape his work at City Hall and in the community.

Giles Crouch   Giles is principal and CIO of Ekspansiv, a firm which helps businesses thrive in the digital age. He has over 25 years working with various technologies. As a polymath, Giles brings to bear marketing, digital anthropology, design thinking and behavioural economics, creating unique solutions to business challenges. He’s helped companies bring new and emerging tech to market globally. He has been deeply involved in Big Data analytics, artificial intelligence, social media, cybersecurity and digital transformations. Giles is regularly interviewed by news media on issues of technology and society.
